Once lost, are we ever the same again…?

A family is torn apart when a little girl is kidnapped while her family is on vacation.

The press immediately turn on the family, blaming the parents for the young girl’s disappearance.

Time passes and everyone begins to lose hope.

But when a girl is found wandering the streets of Portugal alone, she is returned to her family and the case closed.

Yet something is not right.

And as little Rosemary Cathcart grows up, and her parent’s divorce, that feeling never really leaves her.

Years later, after finding her boyfriend has been cheating on her, Rosemary flees to her brother’s home, where she quickly wears out her welcome.

When her mother arrives and asks her to move in with her and her new husband, Rosemary decides to go to Jersey and work at her father’s hotel.

But when she arrives she learns the hotel is close to bankruptcy and her father on his death bed with cancer.

Before he dies, he has secrets to tell that will change her world, and the world of everyone around her, forever.

And it would seem that Rosemary Cathcart, once a Little Girl Lost, is still yet to be found….

Full of dark secrets and mysterious twists and turns, Little Girl Lost is a must read thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat.

My Review

I’m rating this book a 2.5 out of 5.

There were many secrets poor Rosemary had no clue about that once she found out about shed some light on why there was so much strain between her and her estranged father. Rosemary has so much going on in her life, from infancy to adulthood that it’s surprising that she handles some things better than I would have.

The story started off well and it has a fairly good storyline. It was an easy read but the pace was a little slow at times but picked up again. I found certain parts a little hard to believe even for a work of fiction.

Overall it’s not a horrible book. There is a cliffhanger and I’m still interested in reading the next one in the series to find out how it all ends.

Unbound (Colours of Love #1)

Author: Kathryn Taylor
Publisher: Bastei Entertainment
Series: Colour of Love #1

ARC kindly provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Grace is young and has led a sheltered life. She hasn't yet taken much of an interest in men. It's only while doing an internship in London, where she meets the alluring Jonathan Huntington, that our sleeping beauty is awoken from her slumber. Jonathan is rich, incredibly attractive, and stems from British royalty - but he is a far cry from Prince Charming. He lures Grace ever deeper into his world of sinister passion, and she is sucked further and further into the maelstrom of her own growing desires. But when Jonathan demands she do the unthinkable to prove her love for him, she realizes just how dangerous her feelings for him are.

My Review:

Grace is a twenty two economics major who landed an internship at Huntington Ventures in London. Not only does Grace land a great internship but she quickly works her way up and ends up working directly with the boss himself, Jonathan Huntington. Working with the boss also means a lot of sex with the boss. Grace almost instantly falls in love with Jonathan but he lets her know right off that it’s a sex only relationship.

Jonathan teaches Grace all about sex and I mean a lot of sex. There are no emotions involved on his part which would leave any woman ready to pull out her hair and say so long. Grace keeps hoping that Jonathan will show some sort of emotion and maybe one day learn to love her as well.

In my opinion this is a pretty good first book by Kathryn Taylor. I do find that the plot is somewhat similar to Fifty Shades. Naïve and sexually inexperienced young woman falls for a filthy rich head of a corporation. However, there are differences and the writing is fairly good although there are a few typos.

Grace is somewhat childish at times but I know many real life twenty two year olds that are just as childish. I don’t like that she doesn’t seem to value herself enough to get out of the relationship that is so emotionally draining. She so craves him to love her that she does everything he wants without hesitation even if it means she gets no love at all in return.

I learned to dislike Jonathan fairly quickly. I didn’t like that he rarely showed any sort of respect at all for Grace. The only time I saw any type emotion or love and respect was with his sister and his business partner.

Overall I liked the book and it was an easy read. I loved the cliffhanger and I liked the book well enough to want to read the next book in the series.

She never meant for this to happen. She never thought she'd be caught between making her business a success and following her heart. But with her beloved nail polish business in jeopardy, a face from her past offers her a deal she just can't refuse: marry him, and her business will be saved. However, her knight in shining armor isn't looking for a platonic business deal. He wants their marriage to be every way. Some loves are easy. Others are taboo. And one woman is about to see how far she can push the boundaries.

The writing was excellent as it always is with Opal Carew. I haven’t read one of her books I didn’t thoroughly enjoy.

River is a nail polish designer working at a nail polish retail store – she’s still paying off her school tuition. In her spare time she designs unique nail polishes. She started an online campaign to raise funds to bottle, package and market her product.  To her delight, her campaign meets its goal. The highest bidder gets to go out to dinner with River. Little does she know that the highest bidder is Kane, her ex from college and the guy who broke her heart.

Kane makes River an offer that’s hard to refuse, he offers her a partnership. Her one of a kind nail polishes will be sold at a high end retailer. River refuses the offer at first, she can’t get over what he did to her in the past. Things change when she loses her job. There is also one clause in the contract that makes her hesitate but in the end she accepts his offer. Their relationship goes to a whole new level. River is given a life she’s not comfortable with and she feels Kane is trying to change her into someone she’s not but realizes in the end he isn’t trying to change her at all, just trying to protect her. Another person is thrown into the relationship towards the end which seems to make everyone happy.

There is a lot more going on in the book and I enjoyed reading it. I liked River’s character at first. She knew what she wanted and worked to get there but as the book progressed she seemed to lose some of her spunk. I feel that Kane and Will’s relationship could have been explained more thoroughly throughout the book. I liked that Kane wanted River so much that he went to the extreme to ensure she would be in his life.

Overall, I liked the book and would recommend it.
