All the Dead Girls by Rita Herron

Publisher's Description

When a violent storm hits Graveyard Falls, it unearths the unimaginable: skeletons of teenage girls, each dressed in white and holding a candle. It’s clear to FBI agent Beth Fields that this is the work of a long-standing killer—but could it be the one she escaped years ago? She has no memory of the man who held her captive and murdered her friend. But even though someone was jailed for the crime, she’s always feared that the real killer is still out there…waiting and watching.

Ian Kimball never believed his stepfather was guilty of Beth’s kidnapping or the slaying of two local girls. Now Graveyard Falls’s sheriff, he’s determined to catch the true perpetrator. And when more young women go missing, he realizes he needs Beth’s help. She is nothing like Ian expected, and everything he desires. But if they have any hope of finally ending the killer’s reign of terror, Beth an Ian will need to put everything aside, including their past, their mistrust, and their growing attraction.

My review:

This is the third book of Graveyard Falls series. I haven't read the first two books but this book can definitely be read as a standalone. This is the first book I've read by Rita Herron and I really enjoyed it. The characters were fairly well developed and well-written. Although the character of FBI agent Beth Fields was a little weaker than I would have liked for an agent. The book has suspense and a bit of romance. The romance between the two main characters could have been developed a bit more. I didn't really feel the chemistry between the two but that wasn't a deal breaker for me and don't really impact my enjoyment of the book because I really enjoyed it.

Overall this is a good book. It kept me guessing all the way though as to who was responsible for the ghastly murders. I will definitely be reading the first two books of this series and future books by Ms. Herron.

Girl Number One

Author: Jane Holland
Publisher: Thomas & Mercer

Eleanor (Ellie) Blackwood’s mother was murdered eighteen years ago but the murderer was never caught. Ellie was only a six year old child when she witnessed her mother being murderer. She saw the killer but because of the sheer shock of what she witnessed she blocked out the image of the killer, all she remembered were the white runners he was wearing.

On the anniversary of her mother’s death Eleanor went for her usual run and went to the exact spot her mother was killed. What she discovered was a gruesome find – another woman’s dead body. The police searched the area but there was no body. The police thought she was just emotionally distraught and was hallucinating. Was Ellie losing her mind and imagining it because of the grief she still lived with? No, she wasn’t losing her mind. She wasn’t going to give up finding the truth and finding the body.

I read this book in just a few hours, couldn’t put it down! This was the first book I’ve read by Jane Holland and I can tell you it won’t be the last one. There was mystery, a little romance thrown in and a lot of murder. It was a great book, a page turner!

Before he dies, he has secrets to tell that will change her world, and the world of everyone around her, forever.

And it would seem that Rosemary Cathcart, once a Little Girl Lost, is still yet to be found….

Full of dark secrets and mysterious twists and turns, Little Girl Lost is a must read thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat.

My Review

I’m rating this book a 2.5 out of 5.

There were many secrets poor Rosemary had no clue about that once she found out about shed some light on why there was so much strain between her and her estranged father. Rosemary has so much going on in her life, from infancy to adulthood that it’s surprising that she handles some things better than I would have.

The story started off well and it has a fairly good storyline. It was an easy read but the pace was a little slow at times but picked up again. I found certain parts a little hard to believe even for a work of fiction.

Overall it’s not a horrible book. There is a cliffhanger and I’m still interested in reading the next one in the series to find out how it all ends.
