Girl Number One

Author: Jane Holland
Publisher: Thomas & Mercer

Eleanor (Ellie) Blackwood’s mother was murdered eighteen years ago but the murderer was never caught. Ellie was only a six year old child when she witnessed her mother being murderer. She saw the killer but because of the sheer shock of what she witnessed she blocked out the image of the killer, all she remembered were the white runners he was wearing.

On the anniversary of her mother’s death Eleanor went for her usual run and went to the exact spot her mother was killed. What she discovered was a gruesome find – another woman’s dead body. The police searched the area but there was no body. The police thought she was just emotionally distraught and was hallucinating. Was Ellie losing her mind and imagining it because of the grief she still lived with? No, she wasn’t losing her mind. She wasn’t going to give up finding the truth and finding the body.

I read this book in just a few hours, couldn’t put it down! This was the first book I’ve read by Jane Holland and I can tell you it won’t be the last one. There was mystery, a little romance thrown in and a lot of murder. It was a great book, a page turner!

Dirty Little Lies

Author: Lora Leigh
Publisher: St. Martin’s Press
Series: A Men of Summer Novel #3

The Heart has its Secrets. Zack Richards knows he’s asking for trouble. Trying to protect a member of the notorious Maddox family could get a man killed- even a battle-scarred, muscle-ripped alpha like Zack. But the woman who has captured his wildest fantasies is nothing like the rest of her power-hungry clan. She’s innocent, beautiful, and has quickly become the one shining light in his dark, desperate world. The only woman worth fighting for…and dying for…

But Passion Never Lies. Her name is Grace Maddox- and everybody knows that she is a marked woman. Targeted for her family’s sins and hunted like a wild animal, grace has no choice but to accept Zack’s protection. In his arms, she finally feels safe. In his eyes, she sees an insatiable desire that mirrors her own. But the truth is dangerous- and could end up tearing them apart. Will surrendering to Zack end up being the biggest mistake of Grace’s life?

My Review:

This is the third book in the Men of Summer series. This is the story of Zack Richards & Grace Maddox. Grace and Zack have lusted after each other for many, many years. Zack has kept his distance from Grace until it is discovered that she is in danger of being killed most likely by one of her kin. Zack takes Grace to his home to protect her and as much as Grace vows not to fall for him again, the chemistry is too much and she surrenders herself to him. Zack has many secrets he doesn’t want Grace to discover because he thinks it will destroy her. Will Grace be able to trust Zack once the secrets are out in the open? Will Grace finally be able to find peace?

I love Lora Leigh’s work. There has not been one of Ms. Leigh’s books that I have read and not enjoyed, and this one is no exception. Her writing is superb!

This book has everything you can want from a good book – lies and deceit, suspense, passion and hot, hot sex. Grace is not a super strong woman but neither is she weak, she does have her strengths and Zack well, as much as many out there wouldn’t be crazy about his macho type character I really liked him. Not enough could be said about the sizzling sex between the two. Did I mention hot already?

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and there wasn’t any part where I felt like it dragged on at all. This book was intriguing, suspenseful and sizzling!
