Girl Number One

Author: Jane Holland
Publisher: Thomas & Mercer

Eleanor (Ellie) Blackwood’s mother was murdered eighteen years ago but the murderer was never caught. Ellie was only a six year old child when she witnessed her mother being murderer. She saw the killer but because of the sheer shock of what she witnessed she blocked out the image of the killer, all she remembered were the white runners he was wearing.

On the anniversary of her mother’s death Eleanor went for her usual run and went to the exact spot her mother was killed. What she discovered was a gruesome find – another woman’s dead body. The police searched the area but there was no body. The police thought she was just emotionally distraught and was hallucinating. Was Ellie losing her mind and imagining it because of the grief she still lived with? No, she wasn’t losing her mind. She wasn’t going to give up finding the truth and finding the body.

I read this book in just a few hours, couldn’t put it down! This was the first book I’ve read by Jane Holland and I can tell you it won’t be the last one. There was mystery, a little romance thrown in and a lot of murder. It was a great book, a page turner!
